Preview: Worsbrough Bridge vs Selby Town

February 4, 2020

NCEL Division One – 5th February 2020

For the second Wednesday evening running, The Robins will be making a catch up sojourn to South Yorkshire, where they will kick off at 7.45 pm against Worsbrough Bridge Athletic.

The original match was postponed on 14th December 2019, and at that time Worsbrough had 14 points from their 15 matches. Worsbrough hadn’t played a league fixture at home since 23rd October, and, in all, had only played five league games at home.

Since Christmas Worsbrough have certainly made up for it! They have had seven games including a cup quarter final, and the fixture against Selby will be their seventh at home in that time. All these home games have evened the fixtures up, but even after playing Selby, Worsbrough will still have played more league fixtures away, than at home.

Worsbrough have certainly enjoyed the comforts of home, astwo wins and only one loss since Christmas has increased their points total to 23, and sees them sit in eighteenth place in the table ,but a comfortable ten points above the relegation places. Worsbrough are obviously very strong at home. They didn’t play a home league game until 18th September and hadnot lost at home since 19th October, until last Saturday’s 1-2 home defeat against Hallam.

The Robins know that they will be facing a very tough opposition, and that Worsbrough scored a league double against Selby last year, including a 5-1 thumping at Park Road. Town will have to be at their very best to come away from this match with anything. Town will be well aware that after Saturday’s mishap, they must get back in focus, and on track immediately.

It goes without saying that all Selby need all the support they can muster. Let’s make it like last Wednesday at Parkgate. Let the Selby Town voice ring out. The Pinto Property Stadium is only about 43 miles away via the M1, and it should take youless than an hour to get there. Why not spend an affordable evening out watching Selby Town?

Worsbrough Bridge Athletic play at The Pinto Property Stadium, Park Road, Worsbrough Bridge, Barnsley. That all important SAT- NAV code is S70 5LJ.

For those of you who haven’t been before the ground is next to the Worsbrough Mill Museum. There is plenty of parking, and all the usual facilities on site.

A Barnsley team I found are always difficult to play against. Defend well and attack quickly and positively should get the result!

If W B win, they will over night jump to mid table, ST do not allow this. WIN!!
