NCEL Division One – Saturday 30th November 2019
Saturday 30th November will hopefully see us play our first league game since 22nd October, when we travel to Rawmarsh to play Parkgate. The normal 3 pm kick off applies. That caveat about weather permitting is in full play of course.
Town haven’t played a league game since 22nd October, but Parkgate’s game on Wednesday evening was their first competitive game of any sort since 30th October, so like most clubs Parkgate have also been suffering in this very wet spell.
They hoped to play Ollerton Town on Wednesday evening, only for the game to fall foul of the weather like so many others. This postponement has left Parkgate with twenty two points from their thirteen games so far. They are very close to the last two promotion positions and will see the game on Saturday as a chance to claw their way towards The Robins who are currently third in the table.
Looking at Parkgate’s statistics, both their attack and defence are mid table, but they are reasonably strong at home, having dropped only ten points out of a possible twenty one.
We have said this before, after two cup defeats, Town must get back to accumulating league points to ensure that they maintain their position among the front runners.
If the game goes ahead on Saturday it will be like the season starting afresh for both clubs.
Please oh god of football (if there is such a thing) don’t build up our hopes for a game, then dash them with a downpour!
I’m sure that many of you must be itching for a league game, and the team really will appreciate your support. According to the AA, the ground is less than 35 miles from ours and it will take less than an hour to get there so there is no excuse not to be there to get behind the lads.
Parkgate play at Roundwood Sports Complex, Green Lane Rawmarsh, Rotherham.
That all important SAT-NAV code is S62 6LA.
Those who have been before will know to look for the golf club sign. There is parking on site and all the usual facilities, at what also doubles as the Rotherham United Academy Ground.
