NCEL Division One – 15th February 2020
Next Saturday, 15th February 2020, the Robins are on the road again, this time to visit Ollerton Town.
When you think Ollerton Town, you may remember our comprehensive 4-0 home victory at the start of October last year. You may look at the league table, and see that Ollerton are in 16th place with twenty four points from their twenty one games. You may even be thinking in terms of a routine win for Selby Town.
Well, can we respectfully suggest that you forget all that, and note that until last Saturday’s defeat, Ollerton were unbeaten in four league matches, and had won their last three leaguegames, including a thumping 3-0 home win against Campion, and a 1-10 win at East Hull? Take into account, that Ollerton have lost only three of their eleven home league matches, and that it took a last minute penalty for league leaders Winterton Rangers to defeat them last Saturday.
This surely paints a picture of a very tough fixture indeed, against opponents that only fools would underestimate. A stern test, that will be no walk in the park, awaits.
The Robins know that, at this stage of the season, every point lost is a potential body blow to their promotion hopes.
Selby Town will need all your support to assist them to take something from this game. According to the NCEL website this is the second longest away trip for The Robins. However, with eight wins, and a draw from their eleven away games, so far, no one can suggest that the team has not rewarded their travelling fans.
According to the AA, Ollerton’s ground is just over 50 miles from The Fairfax Plant Hire Stadium, and it will take just over an hour to get there. For those who haven’t been before, the ground isn’t far from the A1 so isn’t difficult to find. Car parking and all the usual facilities nearby. Make an afternoon out of it, and support the team. You know you won’t regret it.
Ollerton Town play at The Fast Frame Stadium, WalesbyLane, New Ollerton, and Newark. That all important SAT- NAV code is NG22 9UT.
