West Riding County Cup – Wednesday 9th October 2019
Wednesday 9th October sees the Robins hit the road yet again, as we travel to Armthorpe Welfare for the first round of The West Riding County Cup. Kick-off is at the usual 7.45 pm.
Armthorpe will be thinking that they are in the middle of their toughest run of fixtures yet. After visiting Campion last Saturday, they host both ourselves, and Skegness Town in the same week, before an away fixture at Winterton Rangers.
It has been so far so good, for Armthorpe to date. After Saturday’s disappointing 1-4 defeat at Campion, they sit in tenth place in the table, and have 14 points from ten games. They have been especially effective away from home. Saturday was their first away loss, and despite the heavy defeat, they have still scored more away goals than they have conceded.
Armthorpe have picked up points from tough teams, and dropped points, when they might have expected better, an inconsistency that they will doubtless want to rectify.
Selby for their part will be cock a hoop after Saturday’s win, and will be eager to continue their good run, and gain a place in the next round of the cup.
A cup run beckons for both teams so get yourself down to Armthorpe Welfare to support the lads. There can’t be too many games, where you can watch a team from ,modern day, North Yorkshire, playing a team from, modern day, South Yorkshire, in an, old fashioned, West Riding Cup competition. The vagaries of history!
Armthorpe play at The M Pilbeam Construction Stadium, Church Street, Armthorpe. That all important SAT –NAV code is DN3 3AG.
On street parking, and all the usual facilities at the ground. According to The AA (Automobile Association, not Alcoholics Anonymous!) it’s less than 30 miles away, and will take you about half an hour to get there, so please make the effort to support the team.
